Skitbodedut with Rabbi Zelig Golden

January 8 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Skitbodedut weaves alpine skiing with hitbodedut—the Hasidic practice of purposeful solitude in nature for unscripted conversation with God, soul, and the living world. Practiced on the mountain, hitbodedut can help awaken your spirit, deepen your Jewish practice beyond words, and deepen your relationship with the mountain.
Join Josh Kleyman and visiting Rabbi Zelig Golden for a half day of Skitbodedut as they blend two lifelong passions: skiing and Jewish, earth-based spirituality. We’ll study Rabbi Nachman of Breslov’s 18th century teachings, ski together and separate for solo time in a forest glade before reconvening by shofar to share and reflect. We will take laps for what promises to be an inspiring day of learning, solitude, community connection, and spirited skiing.
This gathering is for advanced skiers and spiritual seekers.
Since this is an informal gathering of friends at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, please email Josh Kleyman below if interested for meet up time and location.

Rabbi Zelig Golden is a seasoned teacher, mentor, and ritualist rooted in Jewish wisdom and nature-based spirituality, with nearly three decades of leadership in the earth-based Judaism movement. He brings deep experience guiding individuals and communities into wilderness, sacred encounters and innovative approaches to Judaism—drawing on his work as Founder of Wilderness Torah and as Founding Rabbi of Makom Shalom, a Forest Synagogue in Occidental, CA. A lifelong lover of wild places and alpine skiing, Rabbi Zelig blends soul-awakening practice with real-world adventure to enliven Jewish life.
